Things to do in denver airport1/16/2024 ![]() Obviously not an option in bad weather but otherwise a pleasant thing I sometimes take a snack break out there.Ĭhecking out the airport facilities in advance at, as suggested above, is a great idea.Īlso, when you get to DEN you can ask at any of the Information desks (one on each of the A, B, and C gate areas, in the center area of each, and in the Terminal Building on Level 5, east side, center area), for a free foldout brochure called "On the Fly" which has the updated info for all Airport amenities and a great map of the whole place. The 2 sets of doors to it are located on LEVEL 5 at the very South end, on the East and West sides of the big glass wall. However, it is a NO SMOKING area, just FYI. It's not attached to any business so you don't have to buy anything, and there are lots of tables and chairs. It was equipped with furniture and opened a year or so ago. One feature that a lot of people may not know about yet, which is a good idea in mild or warm weather: you can sit outdoors on a long outdoor patio on the South end of the Main Terminal Building. I like the place well enough but I know that most people don't like airports so I save my breath about it in answering questions like the original post here. I hesitated to do so, because I used to work at DEN and these days I'm out there a few days a month as a volunteer hospitality ambassador. I'm happy to see others recommending you hang out and enjoy the Airport. You really won't have a lot of time I can't think of anything very close to the airport as worth visiting to kill the time. That's probably not the only place you could go, but that's what occurs to me. I would allow an hour each way, leaving you two hours downtown. You can get more information on Denver attractions at There are restaurants and shops along it. Most days, the 16th Street Mall, which runs the length of downtown and has free shuttle buses along its length, is pretty well populated. You could take a taxi or shuttle to downtown Denver. You should probably be back at the airport two hours before your departing flight, so that gives you four hours. The airport is on the outskirts of the metro area actually it was built in a fairly rural type area but development (hotels, industrial parks, residential subdivisions) has grown up around it. The airport is at least a half hour car (taxi) ride from downtown Denver allow more like 45 minutes to an hour in bad rush hour traffic. To get to Mount Evans, you'll have to hop on the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, a two-lane road known as the "road into the sky" because of the nearly 9,000 feet of elevation change. In this instance, it isn't the destination that travelers rave about – it's the journey. If you came to Denver to experience the Rocky Mountains, you'll want to reserve a day to take a drive up to Mount Evans. ![]()
